As the International Dermoscopy Society (IDS) National Representative for Romania, Professor Simionescu understands and supports the importance of dermatoscopy in dermatology as an essential non-invasive diagnostic tool in skin tumours, but also in inflammatory pathology.

The dermatoscope is to the dermatologist what the stethoscope is to the cardiologist: an extension of the clinician’s eye. In trained hands, this non-invasive method provides accurate preoperative information and information for monitoring pigmented lesions in both dermatological tumor and inflammatory pathologies.

The International Society for Dermatoscopy has advanced knowledge in this field, saving countless lives around the world through a network of doctors spanning countries and continents. I fondly remember their early years from 2007 to 2011 when I was active on their forum, providing telemedicine diagnoses. I also remember that the scientific papers I participated in through the International Dermoscopy Society (IDS) brought me a huge number of citations and allowed me to connect with prestigious doctors. Later, I collaborated with these doctors as an author at the prestigious UpToDate in the United States, specifically in the Dermatology section/ Dermoscopy on Mucosal lesions, as well as at Dermoscopedia.

As the National Representative for Romania from 2024 to 2026, I invite my colleagues, including dermatologists, plastic surgeons, GPs and oncologists, to become members of the International Dermoscopy Society. It is a serious professional organization that saves lives and promotes evidence-based medicine!
